A total of 23 proclamations were received from nine municipalities for Lafayette’s Birthday, Patriot Day, Flag Day, Constitution Week and Veteran’s Day. Flag Certificates were given to eight organizations for proper display of the American Flag. The Americanism activities were enhanced through the Speakers Bureau presentation of 131 Educational Programs in 25 schools and participating in Reinhardt College “Georgia History Time Line” Program with the Cherokee SAR Chapter. In addition the Speakers Bureau spoke to 26 civic and other organizations covering SAR History and Revolutionary War History or participants.

Membership in the chapter was increased through ten new members. New membership was targeted by conducting two genealogy workshops.

The youth programs are covered by committees for Scouting, JROTC, Knight Essay and Poster Contest. One hundred and twenty-three Eagle Scout congratulatory Certificates were mailed to Eagle Scouts of the area. Six Eagle Scouts responded to the invitation to participate in the Scholarship program. In addition, the chapter presented a “Citizenship in the Nation” Merit Badge workshop at the Milton Scout District spring Merit Badge Camp near Covington, Georgia. Four awards were given to Eagle Scouts that entered the Eagle Scout Scholarship Program in 2006. Eight JROTC Medals were awarded to JROTC Cadets at their awards events in each school. Mt. Bethel Elementary School has been a consistent entry in the poster contest over the years. The school had 157 poster entries. One entrant was obtained for the Knight Essay program.

Robert Bauchspies at Arlington Cemetery in Washington. DC. Compatriot Garnett “Jack” Ferguson, in Revolutionary Color Guard uniform, followed behind the caisson.

They participated in Alpharetta’s “Old Soldiers Day” parade, several July 4th parades and events and “Fallen Heroes” ceremony in Montgomery, Alabama.
