2011 July, Piedmont Vice President, Paul Prescott named 2011 Color Guardsman of the Year at National Congress.

The Piedmont Chapter Color Guard, as part of the National Color Guard, attended all four Color Guard functions at the 121st Annual Congress of the National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution which was held in Winston-Salem, NC, on 8 – 13 July. The Piedmont Chapter members were Paul Prescott, Robert Sapp and George Thurmond.

On Monday evening, Paul Prescott received the 2011 Color Guardsman of the Year award from President General J. David Sympson. The award is a gold medal, of which only one is presented each year. At the opening session, Georgia Society SAR President, Bob Sapp presented a $250 check to the Center for Advancing America’s Heritage in honor of Compatriot Prescott being Color Guardsman of the Year. The check was matched by an anonymous donor resulting in the Piedmont Chapter being credited with a $500 gift to the CAAH.
